More details on our meeting at Zolder in June have been released by the BRSCC and can be read in full here. It also includes details of our ‘on the day’ coordinator and scrutineer for this season.
2016 Registrations
James Nicholls is back for his second year in the Championship in his unique BTCC 147 equipped with an Integrale derived engine.
Looking to be challenging for wins throughout the 2016 season
2016 will be Bryan Shrubb’s 20th season in the Championship and the 15th year he’ll be competing in his orange 33.
Looking to be in the mix with the big V8’s, V6’s and turbocharged cars!
Paul Plant will be mixing his Alfa racing with the Clio Cup this year having bought himself a 4th Generation Clio Cup Car. Its the Lap record holding car of multiple champion Paul Rivett. To go along with it Paul has bought a new Artic Lorry.
Interestingly, The clio will be running under a subsidiary of Bianco Auto Developments called Vanquish Motorsport of which is a company run by both Paul and fellow Alfa racer Jon Billingsley. Paul was seen at Brand Hatch last week as well as Thruxton this week testing the Clio for the first time along with support from Jon and also Alfa racer Andy Hancock who insured the car for the day.
The conditions where icy in the morning but warmed up in the afternoon. Paul was run for the day by WDE Motorsport along with one of their regular drivers Charles Ladell. By the end of the day Paul had managed to set a lap time over 1 tenth faster than Charles who has competed successfully for 2 seasons whilst both on used tyres with a time only 7 tenths off the pole position time set on new slicks. With new slicks worth approximately 8 tenths it bodes very well for Paul to have a successful season should he get the budget together to run a full campaign.
Paul Has also registered for the Alfa Championship and after chatting with him informs us that his much campaigned 156 has almost finished its winter rebuild. It has had some new panels fitted along with a new engine and is also a new colour. Bianco Auto Developments’ Harry, Gary, Paul and team are all going to be very busy campaigning in both the UK Alfa Romeo Championship, the European Alfa Romeo Challenge as well as supporting Paul in Clio’s.
Finally, Tom Hill returns in his black and gold 156 for another season of Twin Spark Cup racing. Tom took his maiden win last year at Brands Hatch and looks a strong prospect for more wins this year.
F1 2016
Ferrari launched their SF16-H car today with a 70s inspired livery which still includes the Alfa Romeo badge on the bodywork. This comes after fresh rumours of an F1 return for Alfa. We’re hopeful…
Games
Forza Motorsport 6 released a car pack this month which features the ‘Milano’ model (known in Europe as the 75) which you can download and drive in the game alongside existing models such as the 4C, 8C, GTV6, Giulietta, Giulia Sprint, 33 Stradale, Giulia TZ2, 155, Spider and SZ. Enough to start an online Alfa Championship…
Another game coming soon to PS4 and Xbox One is the popular PC simulator Assetto Corsa featuring the 155 V6 DTM car. If you like a challenge with driving games then you’ll enjoy this one!
