Virtual Racing Championship

In these difficult times, one aspect of which is the absence of any racing, I am delighted to say there is some racing excitement pending if you are into virtual racing. Guy Swarbrick and David Faithful from the Alfa Romeo Owners’ Club are setting up a virtual racing opportunity – there will be one AROC series and one ARCA series, both running on 6 consecutive Sunday evenings starting from 19th April for PC based users.

There will also be a Hotlaps Challenge for PC and console based users allowing those with an Xbox or Playstation to get involved. Full details are below. What are you waiting for – go for it!

Best Regards
Andy Robinson

Using the popular Assetto Corsa racing simulator – on Steam only – the Championship will be contested over 6 rounds on Sunday evenings from the 19th of April to the 24th of May and open to multiple classes.

ARCA Virtual Championships

  • Not-the-Twin Spark Cup: MiTo QV
  • Power Trophy: Giulia Quadrifoglio
  • Modified: 155 V6 TI

AROC Virtual Championships

  • MiTo QV
  • Giulietta QV
  • Giulia Quadrifoglio
  • Historic: Giulia GTA

The Calendar has a mixture of races on the Indy and Grand Prix circuits at Brands Hatch, the National, International and GP circuits at Silverstone and at Spa – and includes two reverse grid double headers.

The vARCA Championship is open to registered 750 MC Alfa Romeo Championship drivers – past and present – ideally, in the Class they were originally registered.

The AROC vRC is open to Club members only.

To compete, you will need a copy of the Steam version Assetto Corsa and a reasonably fast broadband connection. You will also need some downloadable content – including Dream Pack 3, which includes the Brands Hatch Circuit.

If you don’t currently have the game, Assetto Corsa Ultimate Edition – which includes all the available downloads – is just £30.53 on Steam at the moment.

Hotlaps Challenge (PC / Xbox / PS4)

This will run alongside the Virtuals Championships but is open to Assetto Corsa users regardless of the platform you use. You can enter the Hotlaps Challenge even if you are already competing in the AROC or ARCA Championships.

There will be six weekly challenges on the circuit the AROC Championship will visit that Sunday, using one of the four eligible cars per week. Send us a screenshot showing your time, the car you used and the circuit.

WEEK 1: MiTo QV – Silverstone International Circuit

You can enter as many times as you like through the week, but only your fastest time up until 12 noon on Saturday will count.

Send your screenshot to [email protected] by lunchtime on Saturday with HOTLAPS WEEK 1 in the email subject. We’ll pull together a leaderboard after the AROC Challenge race is finished and post it here.

You may want to join the facebook group for all the latest information and challenges.
