Remembering John Strickland

John Strickland, former Alfa Romeo racer, has sadly passed away at the age of 66.

Adie Hawkins: I first met John in 1995 when he was racing a Mk1 Golf in the Slick 50 Road Saloons. I helped him with that car, then prepared his 205 GTI, where he enjoyed some wins. Later, I got him into an Alfa 33 in Class F, and he went on to win the class in 2002. John was a natural driver — great car control and always spectacularly sideways.

He spent countless hours at my workshop from 1999, and after retiring from his job at the bank, worked with me at AHM from 2008 to 2018.

He leaves behind his wife Ellie and will be missed by all who knew him.

RIP John.
