Alfa Romeo GTV Bertone 2000

Description

The Alfa was bought by myself on 18/5/1985 and has been owned by myself ever since. I ran the car as everyday transport for a number of years finally taking it off the road as its condition deteriorated with a view to fully restoring it to ‘concours’  condition . Over the time of the rebuild plans changed and I decided to build a race car to use the Alfa to its full potential!

It was extensively re-metalled with a bare metal re-spray in 1995 by John Bee Motor Engineers in Sheffield. Many panels were replaced including front wings, front panel, boot floor, inner and outer sills – I have some photos of this work as it progressed. The car finally reached completion as a road registered race car in 2013 when it was registered with the Historic Sports Car Club in order to race in the ‘70’s Road Sports series category ‘D’. The car has been raced in this series ever since with a few outings in the Alfa Series run by the Historic Racing Drivers Club.

The entire underneath of the car has been treated with an ‘oil rig’ spec anti rust treatment and then undersealed. I still have most of its original equipment (seats, bumpers , steering wheel etc) which comes with the car including boxes of spares, workshop manuals and the original Owner’s Manual. I also have all the bills for the work / parts over the full period of ownership. A full specification for the car is below:
