Just ahead of this weekend’s party I thought I would write a few lines to keep you posted on developments.
As previoisly communicated, we had a panel meeting last Saturday. We always have a meeting at this time of year to allow us to plan for the new season. As you will imagine this meeting was rather dominated with discussions about filling the various roles, including that of Championship Co-ordinator, that have been identified following my decision to step down from the roles at the end of the season.
Just ahead of the meeting Neil Smith informed us of his decision to resign from the Championship panel. Like many of us, Neil has been struggling with finding time to dedicate to ARCA, and with the HSCC Super Touring series stepping up another gear in 2014 Neil anticipates his time and focus will be on that series. Neil has offered to still be available for help and consultation on technical matters. I’m sure you would all like to join me in thanking Neil for his input and support during his time on the panel.
We shall be looking for some new panel members shortly – more of that after the party!
Next week, once a few more discussions have taken place during the weekend, we hope to be able to publish details of many of the roles, highlighted in my blog a few weeks ago, that we have now filled. Just to clear up a bit of confusion – these roles are separate from panel members – people taking on any of the roles will not need to join the panel (though there’s nothing to prevent someone from doing both).
We still need some more volunteers – please speak to one of the panel if you have any ideas of people who can help with any of the roles or who would be interested in discussing the role of Co-ordinator!
Currently the panel is made up of Graham Heels, Gary Walker, David Thomas, Roger Evans, Clive Hodgkin & Michael Lindsay.
One of the questions we are always asked at this time of year is “when will we have a 2014 calendar”. Well, immediately after the panel meeting, I contacted Drew at the BRSCC with some of our ideas and requirements for next season. If previous years are anything to go by I would expect us to receive a provisional 2014 calendar over the next 2 or 3 weeks.
