£100 REFUNDS

Drivers will recall that ARCA is committed to refunding £100 of the Race Entry fee for every 3rd race meeting that a driver enters during the season. The purpose of this is (a) to assist drivers with the costs of racing, and (b) to provide an incentive for drivers to enter more race meetings.

Quite a few drivers have raced at both Silverstone and Anglesey this year and will therefore be entitled to the discounted entry fee for the meeting at Cadwell Park on 2nd/3rd June. Having been charged the full entry fee for the meeting by the BRSCC, one or two of these have asked how the reduced fee will be administered. It would clearly be very complicated administratively for the BRSCC to charge different race entry fees for different drivers at the point they enter for the meeting and then to invoice ARCA for the balances and this would become even more complicated if a driver, having paid, then had to withdraw from the meeting.

So we are proposing to administer the reduced entry fee in the form of a refund to eligible drivers after the race meeting once they have participated fully in the race programme.

NB Please note that the scheme applies in-season only, so we will start with a clean slate at the beginning of the 2019 season.

GDPR

The subject of data protection in the form of the new GDPR Regulations has been all over the news recently and it imposes obligations on ARCA as it does for any organisation which maintains personal information on members of the public, in our case our registered drivers. Notwithstanding the much-discussed legal complexities of the legislation, it does appear that the obligations on ARCA are reasonably straightforward as we maintain only a very small amount of personal information and it is used for very limited purposes. Nevertheless I will be contacting all our drivers and other ARCA members very shortly to convey the requisite information and to respond to any queries that may arise.

OPEN MEETINGS

People may also recall that we undertook to arrange some open meetings – which all drivers would be invited to attend – at certain points in the year. The ARCA Panel needs to have a discussion as to how best to organise this process, so I am proposing to hold the first such meeting at Snetterton on 7th/8th July. There will be at least one further open meeting later in the season.
