Born and raised in Sorrento in Italy, Gabriele Iaccarino (Gabs) used to take engines apart and put them back together again as a hobby from a very early age and starting with the original Vespas!
He would participate in hairy rally races round the coastal and mountainous Amalfi coast roads of his home. Many, many years later in 2019 just before we were hit by the Covid Pandemic, he popped over to the Netherlands on a whim and bought an old Alfa Romeo GT 3.2V6 – he got it on a ferry and drove it back to England – still unsure how it made it! Stripped it down and thoroughly enjoyed lovingly building a race car. He debuted in the Alfa Championship with his new old GT in 2022 where he had an exhilarating and relatively successful championship – it was a big learning curve with all the fun of crashing, breaking down, rebuilding and fixing technical problems.
He worked on the car again through the winter and had another great season in 2023. He bought an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio at the end of 2023 and has been working on it ever since – sadly it was not ready to race in the 2024 season but looking forward to seeing how the new Beast will run in 2025.
Raring to go…..
