In 2009 Dave Messenger purchased an Alfa Romeo 75 from eBay and prepared it to be raced in Class C of the Alfa Romeo Championship with the help of his father Brian Messenger, Ashley and Justin Smith and Paul Stone, forming Team Darnells Racing.
Having enjoyed racing in the Alfa Romeo Championship for a couple of seasons in his 75 Dave decided to move to Class E (Twin Spark Cup) purchasing a race prepared 156 from Kevin Evans (Peak Alfa).
Team Darnells continue to prepare the car in house and Dave has achieved numerous race wins and podiums over the years; highlights include 2nd in Class E championship in 2013, 3rd overall and Twin Spark Cup in 2016 and double race wins at Mallory 2017 and Brands Hatch 2016.
