When we completed a deal for Alfashop to become our title sponsor for the 2006 season, there were probably few who would have expected the relationship to last for 10 years.
The tie-up was always a logical one that has, we are sure, been of great benefit to both sides. However, “all good things must come to an end” they say and it is with considerable regret that we report that it has been decided by both parties to terminate the sponsorship arrangement with immediate effect. We shall, of course, miss the involvement of both Jeremy Wales and Philip Clay, who had become good friends of the Championship and would like to thank them for the efforts they have made during our 10 years together, helping to keep Alfas at the forefront of club motor sport.
We had tried extremely hard over the past few months to keep the agreement with Alfashop unchanged into 2016. Through careful management of our finances, we have been able to “ring fence” funds for the coming season but we need to find a new sponsor for future years. With this in mind, the Panel will be happy to hear about any constructive ideas that we might consider.
From a short-term practical point of view, the loss of Alfashop support will mean that we shall have to remove their logos from our website and on all competing cars (sunstrips, number panels etc). Our plans for replacements will be communicated to competitors as soon as possible.
