The 750 Motor Club’s HITEK Alfa Romeo Championship travels to the Silverstone National circuit on Sunday 19th April for rounds 3 and 4 of this year’s competition. Heading the entry list after his impressive and record breaking double race victory at Croft in March is Jamie Thwaites in his TCR Giulietta and surely – subject to weather conditions – yet another lap record must be under threat. In addition, Barry McMahon will be making his first championship appearance of the season in his all conquering 156 and the eagerly awaited battle for overall honours between him and Jamie may be about to take place! Joining Jamie and Barry in the Modified class will be the twin Alfa Workshop entries of Jamie Porter in his stunning 2.0 litre 4C and Jack Berry in the MiTO 404 (the latter having his first race in the Championship), Andy Page’s unique Giulietta 116 Turbo and Mike Hilton’s beautiful Bianco-prepared 4C making a welcome return for his first outing of the season. We are also hoping to see Ian Stapleton’s mighty GTV6 if the ever elusive parts he needs arrive in time for him to get the car race ready.
The Power Trophy/V6 class group is headed by defending championship class winner Stacey Dennis in her Giulietta and she will be anxious to avenge her defeat at Croft by Bianco team boss Paul Plant in the Bianco Giulietta 1.4. Richard Ford will again be campaigning the ex-Gabs Iaccarino GT, now in a distinctive black and blue livery and is sure to be on the pace. Loyal Competitor Dave Messenger will be making his first appearance of the season in his 156 GTA and we extend a warm welcome to newcomer Nathan Bignell in his Alfa 33.
With defending champion James Ford absent due to a torn calf muscle (football is a dangerous sport James!), the Twin Spark Cup will be contested by the rapid Toby Broome, the ever improving Edward Robinson, both racing under the Revs Italia banner) and Garry Jackson, another driver making his first appearance in the Championship (although no stranger to the Paddock), all in Alfa 156s.
