Following identification of loose wheel studs at Oulton Park scrutineering and during further inspections it is highly recommended that all competitors strip, clean both hub and stud thread with cleaner before applying a chemical thread locker to the studs being inserted.
The incident in race 4 added fuel to the fire that these studs are not good to use until failure. It is the competitor’s responsibility to be aware that with the additional loads and forces induced during racing decreases the life of these components.
Therefore it is recommended that the age of these components be reviewed with the comments above and if you are unsure of the usage of the studs replace them with new.
